COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). Course Information
Description In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, and conics may be included.
Prerequisites Co-requisite: MATH 1314

Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
1. Define, represent, and perform operations on real and complex numbers.
2. Recognize, understand, and analyze features of a function.
3. Recognize and use algebraic (field) properties, concepts, procedures (including factoring),
and algorithms to combine, transform, and evaluate absolute value, polynomial, radical,
and rational expressions.
4. Identify and solve absolute value, polynomial, radical, and rational equations.
5. Identify and solve absolute value and linear inequalities.
6. Model, interpret and justify mathematical ideas and concepts using multiple
representations.
7. Connect and use multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in
the study of other disciplines
Core Objectives PSLO ALPHA: Demonstrates comprehension of content-area reading material.
Identifies all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrates a full understanding of the reading.
PSLO 1: Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing concepts and constructing solutions.
PSLO 2: Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and visual communication.
PSLO 3: Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.

Grading Scale Math 0314 is offered on a Pass (Satisfactory=SD) or Fail (Unsatisfactory=UD) basis. Traditional letter grades will not be assigned.
Determination of
Final Grade
Students completing the majority (70%) of the weekly course modules and journal entries will receive a grade of Satisfactory (pass).

Students who fail to complete five (5) or more of the course modules and journal entries may receive a grade of Unsatisfactory (fail), unless otherwise recommended by your instructor from MATH 1314.

Attendance Policy Attendance will be determined by your online participation. I will be monitoring your activity through your Blackboard usage history, and may use this information to determine any borderline grade determinations.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
